Pacific Rim Mining Corp.'s goal is to become a highly profitable, growth oriented intermediate level gold producer through the discovery, development and operation of high-grade low-cost gold mines. This strategy guides the Company's exploration principles: focusing on gold; prioritizing projects with low-cost potential over sheer size; preferring projects with high-grade mineralization; seeking projects in geological terrains where the Company's exploration team has a competitive technical advantage; and, concentrating in political jurisdictions with a pro-mining agenda. Pacific Rim's flagship property is the El Dorado gold project in El Salvador. El Dorado is an advanced project that hosts a very large high-grade, vein-hosted epithermal gold system. Pacific Rim believes the El Dorado project has the potential to host a low-cost, high-grade underground gold mine and will be considering putting the project into development in the near future. Pacific Rim is 49% non-operating owner of the Denton-Rawhide heap leach gold operation in Nevada, and utilizes its share of cash flow from this operation to fund its exploration activities. Denton-Rawhide is currently in the residual leach phase, with active mining having ceased in October 2002. Pacific Rim's Santa Rita gold project in El Salvador is an early-stage project with high grade vein-hosted gold on surface. The Company is preparing to drill test this exciting discovery, located 10 km north of the El Dorado project. The grassroots Zamora project in El Salvador hosts a gold-bearing epithermal system that can be traced for over 19 kilometres. Zamora is an early stage project that provides blue sky potential to the Company's portfolio of exploration assets. Ongoing project generation is a key component of Pacific Rim's exploration strategy. The Company's approach to project acquisition, whether through staking or optioning, is to favour projects with relatively high potential and relatively low opportunity cost.
